Impromptu No. 1 in A-flat major Op.29, Frédéric Chopin ; Can't Help Falling In Love Elvis Presley
Impromptu No. 1 in A-flat major Op.29, Frédéric Chopin
For my second example I chose Elvis Presleys "Can't Help Falling In Love", the reason I chose this piece was because it directly relates to what we have learned about this week in our model of Virtuosity. Elvis is considered "The King of Rock & Roll" which correlates with Virtuosity because at his time he was the best rock and roll artist and still is one of the best to this day. He started his career in 1945 and continued it till he passed away in 1977 and he was apart of the Rock & Roll era. The meaning behind this piece to me is that I grew up listening to Elvis because my dad is one of his biggest fans (he has collected all of his vinyls and movies) and this was my favorite song due to the beautiful emotions it conveys. To others this song is also loved by so many people and is one of the most know Elvis songs due to its romantic emotions and beautiful sound. Lots of people love to include this in their weddings because of the beautiful lyrics and also how it sounds as an instrumental piece. The musical elements in this piece are a conjunct melody with a stepwise range, a 3/4 rhythm that is performed at 16 measures per minute, polyphony texture, a beautiful harmony with him the background singers and instruments, a very slow tempo, a soft dynamic change with his voice, timbre with a guitar bass piano and drums, and media with his voice background singers and all the instruments listed above. All of these musical elements come together to create a beautiful piece perfumed in a D major that shows your whole hearted love for someone. Even though thick and thin you can't help but fall in love with them like the title.
